Again, Pokémon is my favorite series and without any title in 2015, I found Yo-Kai Watch to be an excellent substitute. Comparing the two is definitely easy but after playing Yo-Kai Watch and watching the cartoon, it’s worth noting Yo-Kai Watch can stand on its own. The mix of kooky characters is great and each one having its own personality makes the game a unique experience. Yo-Kai Watch is a wonderful RPG for those in search of something that’s just plain fun. I would consider this game as my best 3DS title of the year.

Code Name S.T.E.A.M. is a remarkable game for a couple of reasons. It’s a turn-based strategy game set in a steam punk past, the action is simple to understand and the storyline is unique. As a special agent, taking orders from the President of the United States is part of the job; especially if those orders are to eradicate swarms of alien armies. Combining characters from literary classics makes it an even more fantastical journey. It’s the kind of game you’d usually see on PC, which makes it being on the 3DS refreshing for fans of strategy games.

There was a time, when video game culture was still in its infancy, where it seemed every morning talk show had a segment about being appalled at video game violence. The platform was still not well understood, especially by those who had no interest in engaging in playing video games. Naturally, many mothers and political groups assumed that the violent themes and images in video games would encourage violent tendencies in those who played them. Their premise was ridiculous and repeatedly proven to be unfounded, but I think that is because they were looking at it the wrong way. Mario is not only a staple in video game history; he is THE pinnacle of the industry. His games have defined what it means to be a video game. But guess what? I can make a video game too! Super Mario Maker is a phenomenal concept that allows fans to bring to life their very own versions of the plumber’s classic adventures. I’ve had tons of fun just imagining my own Mario levels and feeling like a real developer at Nintendo. If only they could see my creations…sigh. Alright, I’ve let that out of my system, I’m sorry, but just seeing his name sets me off. In fact, I hate him so much that I wanted to put him at fifteen to not give him the satisfaction of being number one. How can one character warrant so much hate? It is actually all in his design. Teemo’s kit is made specifically to frustrate the other team and not contribute to his own. He doesn’t synergize well with any other champions, he can’t peel, he’s not designed to tank, and he doesn’t spit out as much damage as other marksmen or mages can. Instead, he just contributes to frustrating deaths. The wasted flashes and dying to his poison, the dying to a mushroom he planted in your jungle five minutes earlier, and the dying while swinging and hitting nothing because he blinded you. These types of frustrations weigh on the enemy players and usually have them lashing out at their own team, which crumbles their ability to play together.
